Michael Barnes of The Highland Group recently joined the hosts of ‘The Laying Foundations Podcast,’ David Hambrick and Walker Lott, to talk about the importance of establishing and maintaining good relationships in the commercial construction world.
As Project Manager in Huntsville, Michael’s focus is to make sure every job runs smoothly. “I can’t stress enough how much your relationship with a subcontractor means. It’s just as important as it is with an owner. Your subcontractors are a direct reflection on you and your company. For me, I look at that as a very vital asset.”
Barnes said he owes his career in construction to Doug Gooch, Marty Blackwood, and his godfather Dennis, a residential homebuilder, who had Barnes sweeping floors in the residential houses he built. Barnes now shares his passion for building science and encourages the youth to consider the fantastic opportunities available in the construction industry.
The Laying Foundations Podcast is all about choosing to start a career on solid ground and building it up just like a construction project. You can watch the entire podcast episode featuring Michael Barnes by clicking here.
